My husband Chris and I just celebrated our first anniversary at this Orlando bar. Lucky for me I had a $25.00 off coupon from restaurant.com handy.
Walking up you’ll see colorful paintings on the side of the building. The painting are images of old school blues singers.
Walk in to discover a cool lounge. With red velvet curtains and high backed stools giving it a hip flair. It almost reminds me of a large warehouse. With high ceilings and no uncovered windows.
The lights are low and the music is high. The entrance leads you through the gift shop and into the restaurant. The tables have paintings on them and each are a little different. I think ours had some colorful hand outlines on it.
If you go to BB Kings Orlando after 7:00 pm there’s a $5.00 cover charge to get in. Well worth it if you’re looking for some live entertainment. It might be a little pricey if you’re trying to get a large family inside though.
Get there before 7pm to avoid the cover charge and to snag a good table. Otherwise you may be seated at which ever table is left over. We had to wait at the bar for almost an hour to get the table we wanted.
Even though there’s a cover charge for the entertainment you can still eat here with your children. It isn’t an over the top place that’s meant for adults only. Chris and I saw plenty of families having a great time grooving to the band.
* If you’re looking for a nice quiet evening you may want to skip BB Kings.* It may not be a great place for very young children. The music is very loud.
There’s an extensive menu at BB Kings that consists of everything from ribs to gumbo. With southern inspired comfort food there’s something for everyone.
They have a nice selection of appetizers as well. We decided to give the spinach dip a try. It was pretty tasty....and not just because we hadn’t eaten and had a few drinks in us.
Speaking of drinks BB Kings offers a fully stocked bar. Three of them! They even offer some daily drink specials. I got a shot of southern comfort for only three bucks.
There’s also some cool speciality drinks that come in their own souvenir glasses. You can also get a tall beer for about $8.00 and you can keep the glass from that too!
It would make for a pretty cool souvenir from your trip to Orlando, Florida. Either that or I’m just a sucker for free stuff.
The food is pretty good too! We decided to split the ribs and chicken combo which came with a generous portion of sweet barbequed baby back ribs. Also it had two pieces of barbeque chicken.
Everything was finger licking good. There was so much there I was able to take a piece of chicken home for lunch the next day! Mind you we split this meal. Portion sizes are large.
We ate it up so quickly I wasn’t even able to get a picture of it before we started to devour it. Like a said we had a few drinks and a healthy hunger by the time dinner came. It was our anniversary after all.
The server that we had was really cool. He was having just as much fun as we were. He had a collection of wigs that he put on throughout the evening.

Our server and Chris kept me pretty entertained all night long. But so did the band! They played all sorts of songs that kept our heads bobbing and our toes tapping. There’s also a cool dance floor to shake your booty on if the mood strikes.
It was really fun to watch some brave people strutting their stuff. With the dance floor in the center of the restaurant you can see it from any angle. It’s kinda small and can get packed if the music is right.
If you sit close to the stage you’ll hear the music loud and clear but not much else. Sit a little further away at one of the surrounding tables and you’ll be able to hear the music and the people around you.
Chris and I decided to get upon the dance floor and do a few spins. Once I realized all eyes were on us I snuck back to my seat(I’m a shy dancer). But it was fun while it lasted.
The whole vibe is totally laid back. You’ll see people from all walks of life just enjoying themselves and the people around them. Who knows you may even make a friend or two on the dance floor.
We were able to spend about three and a half hours in BB Kings without even realizing it. We were just having such a great time. With drinks, meal, appetizer, cover charge and tip we walked out spending only $60.00 (that’s with our $25 off coupon) for a fun evening.
If you plan on going to BB Kings on a weekend you may want to make a reservation. Also, don’t forget to ask your hotel if they have any special offers or deals. Sometimes they’ll have a buy one get one free meal or drink or a no cover charge coupon.
If you check out the BB Kings website there’s a calendar that has a list of events for the month. Sometimes they have bands come in a play and sometimes they just offer the house band. If you’re really lucky you may even get to see two!
