The idea behind the tapas is to encourage conversation at the table. Mainly because you’re not focused on eating an entire meal. Instead you’re sharing a variety of smaller dishes.
Cafe Tu Tu Tango is one of the best restaurants in Orlando Florida. This restaurant has a little something for everyone. The dishes on the menu can be shared or you can order a few items to make it a meal.
Unique is the best word to describe this Orlando Florida restaurant. The vibe at Cafe Tu Tu Tango is defiantly laid back.
With a couch in the middle of the restaurant it almost feels like home. If your home was filled with original artwork and a fully stocked bar that is.
Often the food comes out at different times because there are three separate kitchens. But you will not be bored with all the eye candy around. Be it belly dancers or artists creating original works.
Cafe Tu Tu Tango is busiest Friday and Saturday nights. And the action starts every evening after 8pm. It’s a great local hangout with interesting food and a cool atmosphere.
If you're in a hurry this may not be the best of the Orlando Florida restaurants to choose for dinner. Parking can be a hassle at night so plan to use the valet or to wait a bit.
This is one of the restaurants in Orlando Florida that may not be good for very small children. Mainly because it can get loud with all the evening activities.
If you have small children and want to try Cafe Tu Tu Tango do so in the afternoon when it's less busy and quieter.
If you're unsure about a dish be sure to ask. Some dishes are smaller than others. The cool thing is that you can try something you normally wouldn’t because you're sharing. So go on and try the alligator bites. You just might like it! Be a little adventurous with a dish or two and then go with what you know so you don’t walk away hungry or unsatisfied.
*The sangria comes highly recommended so be sure to try it.*
Groups of four to six are best, that way you can try several different dishes. Plus you may get to try more than one dessert!
When my husband Chris and I visited Cafe Tu Tu Tango we really enjoyed ourselves. When entered we knew we were in for a new experience. We were greeted promptly and brought some water right away.
Looking over the menu, it was hard for me to decide what I wanted. Our server suggested two or three dishes for each of us.
With most items ranging from $8.00 to $11.00 we decided on three dishes to share. We figured we could always get another dish if we were still hungry.
A few items on the menu that almost made the cut were the Pumpkin pizza which had arugula, manchego and Parmesan, and a balsamic glaze. The server said this was something unique to Cafe Tu Tu Tango.
The stuffed Portabello with sauteed spinach, sun-dried tomato and blue cheese polenta, mozzarella and a red pepper sauce was another good option.
In the end we decided to go with what we know. We chose the grilled chicken pizza (cooked in an actual red brick oven). The crust was light and flaky and it was topped with onions, peppers, feta and jack cheeses and of course chicken. Very tasty.
We also had some Tango “Bang Bang” Shrimp. The shrimp was fried, crispy and coated in chili-garlic aioli.
I decided to put a few of the shrimp on my pizza. It was good! They should make it a menu item and call it "Buffy's bang bang shrimp and chicken delight." What do you think?
Mediterranean Spinach dip was another one of our choices. Served cold with spinach, red peppers, huge chucks of feta cheese, toasted walnuts and served with Parmesan pita chips. It was truly the best I’ve had. Simple and delicious!
We decided to indulge in some dessert because some of the descriptions alone made my mouth water.
The choice was between a chocolate calzone baked and filled with white and dark chocolate or a banana pizza. A cinnamon flatbread topped with streusel, fresh bananas and home made caramel sauce. Both served with ice cream and whipped cream. It was a tough choice.
The Banana pizza won. A great combination of warm flatbread and cold ice cream. Yum!
Chris said he was “only gonna have a bite.” He ended up devouring two slices of the six-slice pie. I had two and a half because I didn’t want it to go to waste (at least that was my excuse).
Even the walnut ice cream disappeared. Normally I’m not a walnut fan but it was gone before I knew it.
The food was beautiful and tasty with an artistic vibe. Both the pizza and flatbread dessert was served on an artist’s pallette. Making it that much cooler.
Art is a big thing at Cafe Tu Tu Tango. It has the feel of an artist’s home. Colorful napkins on the table and artwork everywhere. Some were beautiful, some were weird but all were original and unique. Also, almost everything's for sale.
There's always a local artist at Cafe Tu Tu Tango. The artist this day was making jewelry out of real coins! I bought myself a dime necklace with a Gemini symbol etched out (I was born in June). Very cool!
This Cafe is one of only a few in the country. So if you’re looking for a place to eat in Orlando that's truly unique, Cafe Tu Tu Tango would be a good choice.
Take your family and share some good conversation and a few things from the menu. Maybe even plan to bring home some unique artwork. Just make sure Cafe Tu Tu Tango is on the agenda!
