You know you’ve arrive when you see the sign that reads “Howdy come see us, the Green Meadows Petting Farm.” With cute pictures of animals on the front. You can't miss it.

It’s a very inviting place with tons of trees and lots of greenery. Oh yeah and plenty of animals too!

The parking is free and there's plenty of handicap spots for those of you that can't walk around so easily. This's the case for my poor mama but she enjoyed herself at the Green Meadows Petting Farm anyway.

When you first walk in you’ll see the place where you pay. Admission is $21.00 for adults and children ages 3 and up. Children 2 and under are Free. Senior Citizens are $17.00. Florida residents are $19.00. And groups of 20 people or more are $10.00 each.

Free Souvenir for all Spring and Summer visitors.

I remember visiting the Green Meadows Petting Farm when I was in kindergarten. Of course as a child this place was huge! But even as an adult is seemed pretty large.

The Green Meadows Petting Farm has definitely stepped up their game. There’s plenty of open space for the kids to exert some energy. And there’s over 300 animals to see!

Make sure to wear sneakers because the farm is mostly dirt. Also, wear clothes that you aren't in love with because you may get dirty.

The tour takes about two to three hours but if you wanted to spend an entire day the Green Meadows Petting Farm you could. There's plenty of things for you and you’re children to do.

Including, climbing up on a huge fire truck, playing with the variety of toys that are laid out, or you could walk around on the second tour and pet your favorites again. There’s also two parks with swings and slides. You may have a hard time getting the little ones to leave.

Plus, there’s plenty of places to enjoy some lunch. So if you want to pack yourself a picnic you can because you’re allowed to bring your own food. There’s only vending machines on site, no restaurants, so make sure to bring snacks and drinks.

Also, make sure to bring lots of water. Florida can get very hot and although the farm is heavily shaded by trees you can still feel the heat.

Orlando, Florida weather is always unpredictable so don’t be surprised by an afternoon thunderstorm. If it’s summer time make sure to bring a rain jacket or umbrella. The show will go on as long as there’s no lightning.

Once you pay you’ll receive a sticker to put on your shirt so the tour guide knows you’ve paid. My mother and I arrived when there was already a group walking around.

We were told just to join the group and wherever we started is where we would end. The group was at the duck pen so of course I had to rush over and grab myself a duck.

We were allowed to enter the duck pen and pick out a duck, grab it up and pet it. We were told not to chase the ducks because this would scare them and cause them to scratch us. Of course I was in the pen with ten screaming children running full force at these scared little guys.

When I see a ton of kids I expect to see temper tantrums, crying and screaming. This was not the case. I saw nothing but huge smiles across their faces. Ah the magic of animals!

Once they found a favorite they would squeeze them a little tight but it was really cute to watch. I snapped a few photos of me and my favorite.

Unfortunately, we were not allowed to take our favorite duck home (or, should I say fortunately to those of you with children that wouldn’t clean up after it.) Oh well the ducks would probably be happier where they are.

As I was walking around the Green Meadows Petting Farm I noticed other animals walking around with the me. For instance there was plenty of peacocks to choose from.

One really colorful one with beautiful blues and greens and one straight white. That was something I had never seen before.

I also saw white squirrels which was completely shocking to me. I was told it’s common to see them on that side of town. I’ve lived in Orlando, Florida my entire life and have never come across a white squirrel. So I guess there’s a first time for everything.

You can only pet the animals at the Green Meadows Petting Farm if you stay in the group. But that’s good because the tour guides are very knowledgeable and they allow a good amount of time to interact with the animals.

We didn’t visit the Green Meadows Petting Farm with any children but my mom and I are children at heart so of course we enjoyed the hay ride.

There’s probably about 40 people in our group that piled into this hay ride and we all fit comfortably. We were told to keep her hands and feet in at all times. Then were told to sit back and enjoy the ride!

A large tractor pulled two carts full of people and it took us on a tour of the entire farm. We saw horses, cows and some sheep.

The hay ride is included in the price of your admission to the Green Meadows Petting Farm as well as the train ride. So that’s a nice little addition.

If you have small children that can’t walk around the entire time there’s wagons that you pull them around in. This little one was taking a nap. Too cute!

You're probably wondering what kind of animals you’ll see at this attraction in Orlando, Florida. Of course you’ll see things like cows, chickens, and pigs just like any other farm.

But you also get to see things like miniature horses, a half horse half zebra and also a large bison. You can also check out some llama. The one in the picture was sticking his tongue out at me!

green meadows petting farm turkey There’s some cages that you’re not allowed to go into and pet the animals. One of which included the turkeys. Now these were some big turkeys. I was told they're not the type you eat at Thanksgiving though.

There were some little white ones that I was told would be the kind you’d eat at Thanksgiving. After the lady said that, one of the little white ones jumped up on top of the fence and stood his ground. I think he was telling us he would not be our Thanksgiving dinner!

Near the turkey’s we saw the cutest little horse. It was a miniature horse and believe me it was small. I couldn't resist petting him but he was pretty dirty. Not to worry though there's plenty of hand sanitizer throughout the petting zoo meant for moments like this.

We walked over to the pony’s next where the small children were taken on a pony ride. If the children exceed a certain height they’re not allowed to ride. The pony’s are mainly meant for small children probably from ages 2 to 5.

Unfortunately for the taller kids they didn’t get to ride the pony’s. I was kind of bummed I didn't get to ride. But oh well there was plenty more to see.

Next, we got to ride the train. This’s a lot of fun too. Again the entire group piled on the train and had to wait another minute for mama because she's a slow walker. Lucky for us the tour guide was very patient (the tour guides work on tips so don’t forget to bring a few extra bucks for them.)

Once everyone was all on board we were off! The train took us around the front part of the farm. We passed by the street that we entered from. We also went around the cottages and through a tunnel.

After that we we're taken over a little bridge that had a coy pond underneath it. With big, beautiful, colorful fish swimming around.

We were then led into one of the little cottages that housed rabbits, birds, and gerbils. It was nice to be indoors because it was cold outside. I'm sure it would be a relief during the Orlando, Florida summer as well.

Next, we saw some donkeys and then we were led over to a cow pen. There we got to milk a cow. I was a little embarrassed because some of the children did better than I did. But I did it and I got my very own squirt of milk! It was definitely an experience.

As were walking around I noticed that our group had started getting smaller. Remember at the beginning I told you that the tour starts wherever the group was and that we would end wherever we started.

So that's what was happening, people had started at different areas and they were falling off at different times. At this point my mama had to sit down and stop walking around too. So the group was down to me and another family. It's kind of nice though because I was able to talk a little more to our guide and learn a little more about the farm.

We got to hold some baby ducks and chickens. They were so cute cuddled up together in their little cage just looking for some warmth. We did that for a few minutes and then we moved on to the goats. This’s probably the most humorous part of my entire experience at the Green Meadows Petting Farm.

When we walked in the goat pen they jumped on our tour guide. She said they were looking for carrots that she had in her pocket. They really seemed to love her though.

Some of the goats were butting heads and look like they're fighting but I think they're playing. She gave us some feed to give to them and they ate it right out of our hands!

One of the goats made a little friend as you can see in the picture. It was really cool to get so up close and personal with the animals.

We walked over to where the geese live but we didn't go inside (apparently they're not the nicest of birds).

Then we walked over to what grabbed my attention the minute we walked into Green Meadows Petting Farm. The ostriches! One male and one female.

When I walked up the female instantly plopped to the ground. The tour guide said that they were mating and that was a mating ritual. So we left to give them a little privacy.

Inside their cage there was about 10 ostrich eggs. They were huge! Our guide told us we could make 27 regular eggs from one ostrich egg and that you have to take a hammer to it to get it open because it was not hard! Wow you learn something new everyday.

The animals at the Green Meadows Patting Farm are friendly and seem to enjoy the visits from the children (and the kids at heart). I love that we got to visit each one individually and that we got to know something about them.

Once the tour ended we got a little souvenir. If you go during the month of October you can visit the Green Meadows Petting Farm pumpkin patch and pick out your very own pumpkin!

If you visit the website you can print off a coupon for $2.00 off each admission. Or, there’s a coupon for a buy two admission’s get one free! Also, if you’re a Florida resident you can save a few bucks, just show ID.

If you're looking for an Orlando, Florida attraction that's just a little bit different and something that's fun for the whole family you’ll want to check out the Green Meadows Petting Farm.
