House of Blues Orlando located in Downtown Disney is one of the coolest, most well laid out Orlando bars around. This place is awesome. Especially for concerts. I’ve seen a few concerts here and I think it’s the best venue in town.
The place isn’t that big so it allows you to get up close and personal with the band. If you wanted to you could even push your way to the front of the stage. Maybe even get some of the singer's sweat on you, if you’re into that sorta thing.
Or, you can do like I do and head to the second floor and find a nice spot. There’s a few balconies that overlook the stage. I try to weasel my way in there because it’s a great little spot. Only a few people can fit in it so it doesn’t get over crowded. One piece of advice though, don’t throw anything off the balcony.
My husband (my boyfriend at the time) and I went to see a Papa Roach concert at the Orlando House of Blues. Chris got a little rambunctious during one of the songs and threw a plastic cup into the crowd.
The security didn’t like that much so they kicked him out. So make sure that you behave yourself or else you might be listening to the concert from outside.
That’s one thing about this venue being on Disney property. I’ve heard the security can be a little strict. I’ve also heard they are unnecessarily rough too.
Chris did get yanked out of the crowd by the back of the shirt, which we both thought was a little uncalled for. Especially considering he would have left on his own is asked nicely. But I guess the security have a job to do.
The nice thing about the House of Blues Orlando is that you can see the stage from pretty much anywhere in the house. The venue is pretty small but it has a nice layout.
One downfall is that there isn’t much seating. So if you have a hard time being on your feet for a long time this may be tough for you. The House of Blues Orlando is general admission. All the ticket prices are the same and it’s first come first serve.
If you want to get a good standing spot or a place to sit you’ll have to get there early. You may find yourself standing in line for awhile but it’ll be worth it when you get the place of your choice to hang out.
The House of Blues Orlando is also a great nightclub. On Sundays they offer hospitality night. Anyone that works in the hospitality field (restaurants, theme parks, service) get in for free. Everyone else has to pay.
You have to be 19 to party at the House of Blues Orlando. You'll pay $12.00 to get in. If you're 21 and up it'll cost you $8.00.
You’ll find a nice mix of locals and tourists. The DJ and light show are awesome too. If you get there before 12am (the doors open at 10:30 pm)the ladies will drink for free. But the party doesn’t start until after 12am.
The drinks are a little pricey but usually pretty strong. The best Long Island Iced Tea I’ve ever had is at House of Blues Orlando. Two of those and a few beats from the DJ and I’m dancing all night long. I used to go to the Orlando House of Blues every Sunday night when I was younger and I always had a blast.
The drinks are last call at 2am but the music will still go until 3am. Once it’s time to close though the lights come on and you get pushed out pretty quickly.
There’s no smoking in the House of Blues Orlando. But if you go upstairs there’s a outdoor patio that has some tables and chairs. You can smoke up there and also check out the crowd that’s coming into the club.
There’s also a bathroom up there that’s less busy and usually a little cleaner. The upstairs bars are normally a little quicker too. I think it’s because most people stay around the dance floor downstairs and fail to check out the best part of the Orlando House of Blues....the upstairs.
When you first walk up you’ll probably notice a restaurant attached to the House of Blues Orlando. I haven’t had the pleasure of eating there yet but I’ve gotten a $25.00 coupon from
restaurant.com
so I plan on trying that out soon. I’ll keep you updated.
The parking is free in Downtown Disney which is nice. Plus, there’s tons of other fun stuff to do around there. Like the Virgin Mega Store, Cirque du Soleil and Disney Quest.
If you’re looking for a fun place to check out a concert or just a cool place to party you’ll have to check out the Orlando House of Blues!
