Do you want a little mystery and intrigue? A love story? Some comedy?
Whatever you’re in the mood for you’re sure to find one of the dinner shows in Orlando to suit your needs.
I wanted to check out one of the Orlando dinner shows for myself so when I came across a half priced coupon from
Groupon.com
for the Outta Control Dinner Show at WonderWorks I jumped at the chance.
Chris and I went to check out this comedy dinner show on a Saturday night. Of course I had to make reservations otherwise we may not have gotten in.
The show was completely booked and totally sold out the night we went to see it. So if you’re going to
WonderWorks Orlando
during the day and decide that you’d like to see the show I’d suggest getting the tickets early. Otherwise you may be outta luck.
To get to Wonderworks Orlando you have to travel up International Drive. It’s located right next to Pointe Orlando. You actually have to park in the Pointe Orlando parking garage if you want to visit Wonderworks.
On a Saturday night this can be tricky. So if you want to get to the show on time (or at least 30 minutes early like they suggest) you may want to give an extra few minutes to find a parking spot. Or, just pay for valet.
We entered into Wonderworks and had to stand in line to get our tickets for the Outta Control Dinner show, one of the least known Orlando dinner shows. If you want to get a good seat make sure to arrive early. The lobby gets filled up quickly and the seating is first come first serve.
Once the doors opened we were lead into where this Orlando dinner show was going to take place. It was just a large room with a stage and several long buffet style tables.
We were shown to our seat at the front of the stage! ( I swear that every comedy show I’ve ever been to I end up in the front, I guess it’s because I’m not scared to be picked on?)
I thought we would have our own table but was surprised to see that you sit with other people. It was okay though because we had a nice couple across from us to talk to.
If you don’t really like to socialize or your not a big fan of kids maybe you should consider checking out one of the other Orlando dinner shows.
The theater is small but it gives it a nice homey feel. I think it works in their favor because everyone is close so if one person laughs it just becomes contagious.
The Outta Control Dinner Show is definitely a family friendly show. There were several families with kids. I guess I should have known that when they told us that dinner consisted of unlimited popcorn, pizza and salad.
Knowing this I didn’t have high hopes for our meal. I was able to talk Chris into it because of the all you can drink beer and wine (plus soda).
Surprisingly, the pizza was really good and it was served almost immediately. There was already salad on the table when we sat down. Clear Italian dressing was the only option. Although I’ve been told you can ask for something different.
There was also a magicians hat filled with popcorn. This was a major hit with the kids. One kid ate all his popcorn and then wore the hat out of the show.
Even though they only offered pepperoni or cheese pizza there was also some Parmesan cheese and crushed red peppers to help spice it up a little. The salad was also really good.
Considering I only paid $28.OO (with our $20.00 off coupons from Groupon) for both Chris and I, this was shaping up to be a decent meal.
Chris’s glass of beer never went empty. (Remember that the service staff works off tips so be sure to leave them something extra. Five to eight dollars a head should do the trick.) We had great service the entire night.
As soon as our pizza was gone there was another one in its place. Our server was very attentive and friendly. She did a good job of taking care of the 20 or so people at our table.
We feasted on our pizza, popcorn and salad for about 20 minutes before the show began. As far as Orlando dinner shows go this isn’t the top of the line. It was mainly slapstick comedy with a lot of cheesy jokes. But the magician had quite a few impressive card tricks and was able to keep the crowd laughing.
Tony Brent was the name of the guy on stage the night we went. I think he does the majority of the shows. If he isn’t there, WonderWorks Orlando offers a guest performer for the evening. Be sure to check out the website to see who will be performing on evening you’re planning on going. Shows are held at 6pm and 8pm nightly.
The show was a huge hit with the kids,(and everyone else for the matter) they were all laughing their little butts off. Whenever Tony asked for help from the audience the kids were jumping up and down to try to get picked.
He kept a nice mix of children and adult participation throughout the show. No one was left out. I even got to get into the act with one of his card tricks.
The show is mainly comedy but also cool tricks that had me saying Wow a few times. There was lots of audience participation throughout the hour long show. Chris really liked the impressions that the comedian did. Like Robert Dinero, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Christopher Walken.
For the final bit Tony Blair pulled a man on stage and put a puppet mask on him. There was a string on the end of the puppet mouth that he pulled when he wanted the man to mouth the words to a Sonny and Cher song. It was pretty funny to see a 6 foot tall man look like a Cher puppet.
He really got into it too though. He was swaying back and forth and really seemed to enjoy the attention. When he got off stage his kids looked so proud!
After the show you can hang around and talk to the star of the show. You can even get an autograph if you want.
The normal price for this Orlando dinner show is $24.99 for adults and $16.99 for kids ages 4-12. If you buy online or checkout the Outta Control Dinner Show website you’ll find a $2.00 off coupon.
You can also save a few bucks if you get the combined tickets that get you into both WonderWorks Orlando and the Outta Control Dinner Show.
This’s is one of the Orlando dinner shows that’s a top of the line act. It offers good clean family fun at a reasonable price. If you go looking for fine cuisine and five star accommodations you will be disappointed. If you go for a good time and a full belly you’ll have a blast!
